Disabilities / Dementia for Dispatchers
When someone with dementia or someone with autism gets lost, it's not your typical missing persons case. Their conditions cause them to elope in predictable ways and this course will give you insights to recover them quicker, safer, and with fewer resources.
This course will prepare you to understand what elopement is, ask tailored questions about missing persons with disabilities and dementia, give you practical techniques to de-escalate callers, and provide resources to help caregivers prevent future elopement.
This course is currently available and free to any dispatcher within California. Due to grant terms, we may not permit people who are not affiliated with a law enforcement agency in California.
